🍷 Embracing the enchanting night vibes at Marina di Camerota with a glass of Sur Sur from Donnafugata. We found a beautiful terrace overlooking the small harbour filled with boats at sunset. It was our first time in Marina di Camerota, a small town in the Cilento coast, a southern, less famous destination compared to the Amalfi coast, but definitely worth visiting. A beautiful conclusion to our summer holidays!

🍇 Sur Sur is a masterpiece from Donnafugata, is a wine that captures the essence of Sicily's sun-soaked vineyards.
While it's not a local wine (we are in Campania), I decided to accompany our fish dinner with this wine that I learned to love in #hongkong.

With its vibrant straw-yellow hue and refreshing citrus notes, it's like sipping on the very essence of the Mediterranean breeze. This blend of Grillo and Viognier grapes feels great on the palate with a harmonious balance of fruity and floral flavors, making each sip a journey to the heart of Sicily's terroir.

Cheers to the exquisite taste of Sur Sur and the memories that linger long after the last sip. 🌙✨

"Arnaldo Caprai" is an Italian winemaker based in

"Arnaldo Caprai" is an Italian winemaker based in the Umbrian town of Montefalco.

For over 50 years they have been major producer in this region, with the Sagrantino being their signature grape. A grape that they single-handedly saved from oblivion in the 70s!

Their vineyard is open for visitors and we had the pleasure of being escorted by Anna, who excitedly took us on a tour of the facilities and thought us all the secrets of Arnaldo Caprai's vinification.

Special mention to the white "Cuvée secrete", a velvety, fragrant blend with a secret formula and the Sagrantino 25 years, a very tannic and spicy red that after breathing for a while shows an extremely complex and charming bouquet.

We strongly recommend anyone travelling in central Italy to make @arnaldocaprai their destination for a great afternoon!

Last night was incredible! 40 people joined for our summer party in our beautiful terrace to celebrate the night with over 140 oysters, ham, cheese, liters of sangria, handmade cakes a s of course, 20 bottles of the finest Italian wine.

A heartfelt thank you to all the guests, you made this might special and memorable! And the outfit were absolutely on point! 👗

About last night 🌝

Amazing event organised by Balan to introduce all the new and old winners that will make our new catalogue here in Hong Kong!

It was fantastic to finally meet the producers who travelled to Hong Kong to meet resellers and the general public to explain their wines and their philosophy.

I will post more about each specific wine in the following days, but just know that we had the chance to try some great novelties.

In particular, I was greatly impressed by the Moscato Fiori d'arancio (Orange flowers) DOCG by Capodilista from the Euganei hills in Veneto, such a sweet and delicate aroma and flavour that almost resembles a Bellini!

Particular mention also for the great sparkling Franciacorta and the extremely tannic Pignolo! Just amazing.

If you are looking for a wine that combines tradition and elegance, you should try the Dogliani DOCG 2021 from Poderi Luigi Einaudi.

This wine is made from 100% Dolcetto grapes grown in three estates in the municipality of Dogliani, where this variety expresses its best potential. It has a ruby red color with purple hues and a fruity bouquet of red berries, cherries and plums.

On the palate, it is fresh, smooth and balanced, with a pleasant almond aftertaste. It has a good structure and a moderate alcohol content (14%). It is a versatile wine that can pair well with meat dishes, such as roast beef, lamb chops or veal stew, or with cheese, such as robiola, toma or gorgonzola. It is also a great wine to enjoy by itself, as an aperitif or with some snacks.

This wine has a special story behind it: it was born in 1897 and since then it has never missed a vintage.

It is also the wine that celebrates the 125th anniversary of Poderi Luigi Einaudi, founded by Luigi Einaudi (the first elected President of the Italian Republic).

To mark this occasion, Ludovico Einaudi, the grandson of the founder and a famous composer, has dedicated an original symphony to this wine.

You can listen to it by scanning the QR-code on the back label of each bottle. It is called "Ascolta Dogliani" (Listen to Dogliani) and it captures the essence and the beauty of this wine and its territory.

Do you know what astringent means? It's a word that describes something that shrinks or constricts body tissues⁴. You may have experienced it when you applied calamine lotion or witch hazel on your skin⁴. But did you know that some wines can also be astringent?🍷

Astringent wines are those that leave a dry, puckery feeling in your mouth. This is caused by tannins, which are natural compounds found in grape skins, seeds and stems⁶ . Tannins can also add structure, depth and complexity to wines.

Some examples of astringent wines are Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, which are usually aged in oak barrels to soften their tannins. But if you're looking for some Italian wines that match this description, here are three suggestions for you:

- Sangiovese: This is the most widely planted grape variety in Italy and the main ingredient of Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino. Sangiovese wines have high acidity and tannins, as well as flavors of cherry, plum and leather.
- Lagrein: This is a native grape variety from Trentino-Alto Adige, a region in northern Italy near the Alps. Lagrein wines have a deep color and a full body, with aromas of blackberry, chocolate and spice. They can also be quite acidic and astringent.
